Sinister Plot by GrouchoM Sinister Plot by GrouchoM
When criminals in this world appear
And break the laws that they should fear
And frighten all who see or hear
The cry goes up both far and near
For Underdog!

Sweet Polly Purebred has once more fallen into the hands of unfeeling scientist Simon Bar Sinister. Simon has cloned Polly and is even now downloading her memories into the clone so the clone can get close enough to Underdog to perform it's dastardly mission. As for Polly, well, once her memories are downloaded, she's of no further use to Simon. So Underdog better get there quick.

Found some pictures of Underdog and Polly on the net and it inspired this picture (Has it really been almost fifty years since this show premiered?). I tweaked her figure a little because I don't have to keep it simple for the purposes of cheaper animation.

I loved Underdog! Wasn't born until the 80s but I watched it all the time on Nickelodeon, Loved klondike kat, tennessee tuxedo. My parents got me liking the old shows, and music. Rocky and Bullwinkle, Jonny Quest, etc.

Same here, born 1981 and i loved this show since it was shown on Nick when i was 11 in that summer and taped every episode every afternoon. I even had a crush on Sweet Polly Purebred as she is one of the hottest furry chicks i've seen so far.

My parents too got me liking old shows and music as well, i even watched some 60's toons in the 80s like Scooby Doo, Jetsons, Flintstones, Top Cat with the other Hanna-Barbara stuff and more. I did watched Speed Racer on MTV when i was 12 and around the same time as this show was watching Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Oh, you got the edited versions. A lot of those shows were edited to allow for extra commercial time. And I think there were one or two episodes of Jonny Quest that never ran in syndication after the 60s. If you can, watch those shows via the DVD collections. You'll see them the way I saw them first run.

Never watched underdog, but given how much of a Rocky and Bullwinkle nut I am I think I should check it out.

Well Bullwinkle was definitely better written. But as a kid's adventure/parody of Superman, Underdog wasn't bad.

Tweaking is good, man. It's good to see her bound and gagged in a sweater 8-)

Hopefully after 50 years, S B Sinister has learned to tie an effective gag!

When I was coloring it, I decided to go with flat colors rather than modeling to give it that "60s el-cheapo animation" feel. Just sort of goes with stuff like Underdog.

More than once? I'd say Sweet Polly's been in Simon and Riff Raff's clutches over 3 out of 5 Underdog episodes.

As a child growing up in the 1960's, I remember watching this awesome show and the spin-off's ( Tennessee Tuxedo, Go-Go-Gophers, Klondike Kat, Commander Bragg (my favorite) and thinking Underdog was the best thing on saturday morning TV. My favorite villian was Simon Bar Sinister, but Riff Raff was a close second.
And everytime I watched The Hollywood Squares during the week, I can remember Watching Wally Cox and say, "He sounds like Underdog!", which I later learned he WAS Underdog in voice! :XD:

Thank you my friend for rekindling a wonderful memory of times long past. :handshake:

As cheesy as Underdog was, there was something in the way it was produced and written that a lot of today's cartoon shows lack.

Of course, fifty years from now someone will be saying the same thing about Johnny Test.

Agreed. The writing could be a bit cheesy, but what drove me nuts was when Polly Purebred would sing "Oh where, oh where has my Underdog gone", and I would absolutely CRINGE and hold my hands over my ears! To me, the show was different from the "cookie-cutter" production of Hanna-Barbera in which you saw scenes used from other shows over and over, where Total Television that produced this and others had some very talented writers from comedy and variety shows and voice actors (Wally Cox, Larry Storch, ect...) that brought their own flavor to the mix.

Well, you'r probably right about Johnny Test. A show I don't particularly like, but something today's kids will fondly remember like we remember ol' cheesy Underdog! :XD:

I loved Underdog. Never fear Underdog is here! So corny but alas just great animation. I think you did a great job of updating her look yet still keeping that nostalgic appeal. I wish they'd bring this back!

Yeah everything is so computer based now that it's hard to find a honest to goodness cartoon like they used to make. Plus nobody wants to watch it, now they want all this 3D stuff.

Plus they write it like they're either ashamed to do adventure cartoons or they think the audience is, so they seem to lack the innocent wonder that shows like Underdog and Space Ghost had.

OMG I loved Space Ghost! Some of the best villains came out shows like that. Who was that one dude that was like a green praying mantis, was it zoltar? And then there was Jane and Jace and that little monkey dude!

The mantis guy was Zorak. And it was Jan, Jayce and Blip the annoying monkey.
